The Crowne Plaza in Burlingame is a four star hotel with 309 rooms, swimming pool and restaurant. Reinvented via a major remodel inside and out, the hotel has been transformed into a fun, modern, high-tech experience. Inspired by its proximity to the bay, the landscape design has been transformed by references to forms, colors and textures of the sea including the use of recycled glass and oyster shells as ground cover. The entire hotel redesign emphasizes the natural elements of earth, fire, water and air. Utilizing the elements of the bay and nature has resulted in a playful and dramatic landscape. The plants are predominantly coastal, drought tolerant or native and able to withstand the tough environmental challenges of this bayside site with its marine influences.
