New Istanbul is a new town located outside of Istanbul that will create homes for 50,000 residents. The town is being developed to include a central downtown district built around a circular canal promenade and park which will provide an entertainment complex and a retail center nestled among office and residential towers. Outside of this inner circle, residential developments will be designed to accommodate single family lots, townhouses, duplexes, apartments and low rise residential towers. Each community will provide recreational amenities and parks for the residents. The town’s roadway systems are being designed to create a hierarchy of streets that will accommodate traffic flow and a shuttle bus system. Community services such as schools, police, fire stations, and post offices are integrated into the community. In Phase 1 the Gateway Center, with its aqueduct design, will create a dynamic portal for the future development.
